The vision of Jonas is based on very small lots of distinctive wines, with a special focus on Cabernet Franc. We at Jonas have always had a soft spot for the variety, and the thought of tasting Francs from multiple AVA's crafted by the same winemaker offers the opportunity to further explore the expression of terroir.
Zach Long and Katy Long (the duo behind Jonas Cellars) were brought together sharing a mutual love of food, wine and travel. Zach graduated from the U.C. Davis Viticulture and Enology program, followed by a viticulture certification course from the University or Pupan in France. Upon the completion of his studies, Zach traveled to experience harvest seasons in Margaux France, and Hawks Bay New Zealand. He eventually returned state side to continue learning and working with multiple wineries in both Napa and Sonoma Valleys. While Zach makes a living as a winemaker, Katy, a graduate of N.Y.U., is a student/educator and writer for everything wine. She's also been known to create a food pairing or two, utilizing her formal education from the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park.
At Jonas Cellars our pledge is to produce wines that we ourselves would like to drink, but to also let the vineyards express their true character. We hope you enjoy.
